Happy Tuesday!

Yesterday reporter Nevin Kallepalli and I sat in the living room of a local mother who's fought for decades to meet the needs of her daughter, who faces a challenging mental health diagnosis.

That daughter is now conserved and receiving care for her complex medical needs in a California nursing center. With mom's support we spoke with her by phone. It is always a profound honor to hear from those with such intense needs who somehow, against all odds, have survived and remain our neighbors.

Her story is among those we'll share in the coming months as we publish our new mental health series. I hope those stories will allow you, like me, to better see the needs of those around us and the gaps that remain to serve them well.

Forging ahead,
