A host of global factors are affecting local power pricing, REU says

Redding Electric Utility has proposed a series of 4.5% annual hikes in electric bills over the next four years. The city-owned utility hosted two public forums for residents yesterday to explain the factors behind price hikes.

Redding property company settles with state after allegations of “egregious” violations of California housing law 

The case against Property Upsurge, which operates about 1,300 rental units across northern California, was first opened in 2023, according to the California Attorney General’s office. The company will pay out more than half a million to settle the suit.

Shasta County must hold off on placing voter ID measure on ballots, judge says

The decision came in response to a petition filed earlier this month by an anonymous plaintiff. If approved by voters in June, the ballot measure would amend local law to allow for changes to elections, including hand counting and voter ID.
