March is upon us!

I planted crocus bulbs for the first time last fall and their blooms last week have brought me true joy each day.

We're looking forward to covering this week's meetings which hold some important topics including the First Amendment rights of staff and council members in Anderson. We'll be watching with great interest.

Forging ahead,

The board will discuss a case related to a citizen-led initiative that is slated to appear on ballots this June. See Shasta Scout's related coverage.

Tuesday, March 3, 4pm - Redding City Council Special Meeting

The council will hold a closed session meeting to discuss the performance of the city attorney and recruitment for a new one. See Shasta Scout's related coverage. Tuesday, March 3, 6pm - Redding City Council

The council will hold a public hearing to consider increasing REU fees by 4.5% a year over four consecutive years. See Shasta Scout's coverage here.

Members will also consider adding a new temporary entertainment zone related to Kool April Nights. This would allow for people to move around with open alcoholic drinks in specific kinds of cups during a single day of the event from 6-9 p.m. Movement would be allowed within an area described as bordered by Cypress Ave to the South and the Highway 44 over-crossing to the North. Participating businesses would be located on Hilltop Drive between Cypress Avenue and the Highway 44 over-crossing. The staff report says that this was brought forward at council's direction but that staff anticipate challenges should it be approved by council.

Tuesday, March 3, 5:30pm - Anderson City Council

The council will discuss whether to put a social media policy in place for employees and council members. See the draft on pg. 26 of the link above.
